Who We Are
Mesmer Kava was founded by husband and wife team Gwen and Roderick Russell. Between the two of them, they have professional backgrounds in mental health, performing arts, athletics/fitness/adventure sports and the coffee and tea industries, as well as a long history of entrepreneurship. But most of all, they simply love kava and wish to bring it to all those that could benefit and enjoy the life-enhancing characteristics of the plant.
With a long and varied history in the mental health world as a clinical, medical & stage hypnotist, Roderick was first introduced to kava many years ago while on tour and traveling.
Encountering a group of native Fijians at the home of his booking agent, he was encouraged to try kava and immediately felt the positive impact on his life.
Years later and after over a decade of drinking it off and on, kava became a necessary component in Roderick’s own stress-management protocol following a health crisis.
Gwen Russell has worked in the coffee & tea industry for over a decade. First as a technician and sensory specialist for a coffee testing laboratory and later as a sensory specialist and quality manager for a major coffee import company.
She enjoys using kava creatively to enhance focus and well-being while engaging in her artistic pursuits.
