This is a relaxed, social afternoon at the Lucky You Lounge where you’ll get to experience traditional kava – one of the world’s oldest social drinks – in good company and with zero pressure.

Kava has been bringing people together for centuries. It eases tension, sparks conversation, and leaves you feeling calm and clear, all without alcohol. If you’ve ever wished you could take the edge off a social situation without drinking, this is your answer.

We’ll guide you through the experience at a comfortable pace, share a bit of the history and culture behind kava, and leave plenty of room for questions and real conversation. Think of it less like a class and more like a gathering with an interesting shared experience at the center.

You’ll come away knowing:

• What kava actually is and how it works
• Why it’s genuinely different from alcohol – at the nervous system level
• How to use it as part of a healthier social ritual
• …and of course, you get to experience kava’s effects for yourself!

Mesmer Kava is Burlington’s first kava bar – a space designed for slowing down, connecting, and creating real conversation. Our mission is simple: to offer a welcoming third space where people can gather, relax, and share meaningful time together without alcohol.

Lucky You

Lucky You is Burlington’s first alcohol-free bottle shop. We stock a curated selection of NA spirits, ready-to-drink cocktails, functional beverages and de-alcoholized wines. Our newly outfitted Lucky You Lounge is host to a variety of events that support our community thru education, entertainment and other opportunities to gather without alcohol. We love putting sips to lips! Stop by, say hi and explore this exciting, rapidly-expanding category of beverages with us.

This small, private gathering is designed for people exploring Dry January who want a genuinely satisfying alternative to alcohol, not a substitute that feels like deprivation.

In this guided experience, we’ll explore why traditional kava has been used for centuries as a social, calming, clarity-enhancing drink, and why it works so well for modern adults who want presence, ease, and connection without intoxication.

You’ll learn:

• What kava actually is (and what it is not)
• Why kava supports relaxation and sociability without dulling awareness
• How kava differs from alcohol at the nervous system level
• Why quality, preparation, and dosage matter
• How to use kava intentionally as part of a healthier social ritual
• Where it comes from and some of the history and culture behind the beverage

The event includes a guided experience of traditional kava, paced intentionally so you can feel the effects clearly and comfortably. There’s time for questions, conversation, and reflection in Mesmer’s calm, relaxing environment.

This is not a party, and not a lecture. It’s a thoughtful, embodied introduction to a different way of unwinding and connecting.
